You are in Christ
Identity matters. Unfortunately, pastors may say to the congregation, “You are sinners.”
Of course, Christians can sin, and should not sin. However, the congregations’ basic Christian identity is “in Christ” and is not in sin.
You are members of the remnant
Being conscious of the wider body of Christ matters. Unfortunately, pastors may say to the congregation, “You are the remnant,” without mind of other churches.
However, Jesus was “the remnant” and the church is in Christ. Churches are members of the remnant, in Christ and by the Spirit, and there are many other churches.
You have Holy Spirit
If you believe in Jesus, then Holy Spirit lives in you (see also, Getting to Know Holy Spirit). Unfortunately, pastors may question whether other Christians have Holy Spirit.
However, Christians are baptised in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
